Old Testament Survey II

This class continues the survey of the Hebrew Scriptures so as to give the student a good framework for understanding God’s plan and character as He deals with the nation of Israel. It picks up from OT Survey I and covers the books of the return from Israel, the poetic literature, and the prophets. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the broad sweep of divine revelation, and particularly on how later revelation builds on earlier revelation.

Textbooks and Materials

Required: NAS Bible. Though not required, it is highly recommended that the student
use a New International Inductive Study Bible for this class. It is laid out in such
a way as to facilitate the assignments, and contains many helpful charts and maps.
Required: Survey of the Old Testament, by Paul Benware.
Required: A Biblical Theology of the Old Testament, edited by Zuck, Merrill, and Bock.
Recommended: Old Testament Theology, by Paul House.
Recommended: Talk Thru the Bible, by Bruce Wilkinson and Kenneth Boa.
Recommended: The Greatness of the Kingdom, by Alva J. McClain
