<title>&quot;Broken Walls, Broken Heart&quot; - Nehemiah 1</title>
<itunes:author>Justin Culbertson</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Broken Walls, Broken Heart</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>People cry about a lot of things. They cry at weddings. They cry at funerals. Parents cry when children are born and when they grow up and leave home. Tears of joy or tears of grief can flow depending on what the doctor reports. Today we're going to begin a new series studying the book of Nehemiah. The book opens with a man crying . . . about a broken wall. May God use our exploration of Nehemiah to revive His church for His name's sake.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Transformed Cretans</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>What happens when the grace of God lands upon an island full of liars, thieves, murderers, and lazy gluttons? A local church bearing the name of Christ is birthed and its people are radically transformed. We would do well to notice the same transformation that is to be evident in this local body. To that end, may we re-introduce ourselves to the book of Titus.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>Preach the Word</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>We have come to a time of transition in leadership. God has ordained this as a way of transferring the truth of the gospel from one generation to the next. It is both a solemn time and a joyful time. God’s Word endures forever. As His servants we take our place in that great cloud of witnesses as we faithfully run the race. Then it becomes the duty of the next servant to carry on in the preaching of the Word, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>The One True Living God</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Idolatry is that destructive cancer which plagues us all. What adds to the sadness is that “those who make such idols eventually become like them.” Well our world is rife with personal examples that would support such. In their idolatry mankind becomes lifeless, empty, vain, powerless, useless, and despondent. Such is not the existence to which God has called His people. “He had been mindful of us, let us bless the Lord.”</itunes:summary>

The Book of Revelation suffers from both eschatological sensationalists and eschatological agnostics. How tragic. Let’s rekindle our hope for the return of Jesus Christ by immersing ourselves in the Bible book which says, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Rev. 1:3).</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Is Christianity merely about going to church, being nice, and knowing that “God doesn’t need to be involved in our lives except when needed to resolve a problem?” This is what many seem to think. <itunes:summary>These last few familiar verses of Matthew are both an ending and a beginning. They form the perfect ending to Matthew's gospel account and they serve as a launch pad for the gospel's advance in the world. Jesus' charge is not just for "those missionaries," but for you and for me. I pray that this little church would be a mighty force in making disciples of all the nations.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The Bible rests the Christian faith on the literal, bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then we who believe in Him are - of all people - the most miserable (1 Cor. 15:19)! But because Jesus did rise, we who have believed in Him have the greatest reason of all people to rejoice. May God fill our hearts with joy and praise as we consider this truth: "He is not here, for he has risen, as he said."</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Two hundred and seventy years ago this month, Jonathan Edwards preached what became his most famous sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." In the text we'll be looking at tonight, we see a scene that's nearly 2,000 years old showing the Son of God in the hands of angry sinners. In this event we have a picture of grotesque human depravity. But against that dark backdrop of man's wickedness, we behold the glories of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And doing so, we can't help but passionately proclaim, "Hallelujah, what a Savior!"</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>What does it mean to be a Christian? Is it what one does or does not do? Bible-belt culture can create confusion as to what biblical Christianity is. Romans 14:17, 18 can help us with these issues. Also, what is the kingdom of God? Is the church the kingdom? Are we to spread the kingdom of God? Christianity has suffered great harm at the hands of those who think that the kingdom of God is the exercise of civil authority. Let us hear what Scripture says about the nature of God’s kingdom.</itunes:summary>

Ours is a culture obsessed with dieting, counting calories, skipping meals, obsessively weighing ourselves, etc., eventually experiencing the inability to enjoy food at all. How do we respond to this as believers? Are we possibly treasuring beauty as dictated by the world? How do we as believers think about beauty and our bodies? Is there a way for us as believers to care for our bodies well and yet still treasure Christ above all things?</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Fireworks shows are great to watch. And the best part about a good fireworks show is the finale. They save the biggest, loudest, brightest explosions until the end. Tonight we'll look at the finale of Jesus' teaching about the end of all things. Come back this evening as we behold some absolutely stunning displays of the glories of Christ.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Some Christians are convinced that poker playing, dancing at weddings, and an occasional glass of wine are allowable within one’s liberty in Christ. There are other believers who are equally convinced that doing such things would be a spiritual compromise (Christian liberty doesn’t allow it). There were tensions in the church at Rome over matters of food (what the Christian could and could not eat), days (Sabbath rules), and wine (to drink or not to drink). We need to see how the debt of love helps believers to navigate through such matters.</itunes:summary>

There is a battle to be fought. There is a life to be lived for Christ. He could come again at any time.</itunes:summary>
